Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

An Easter Week Lunch

It's Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Stop by and see all the great tables. Such creative tables and so inviting!

Tuesday, I hosted a luncheon for what I call The Lunch Bunch -- three friends who come to Linderhof once a month for lunch. What started out 9 years ago has continued and although we are all retired now, we still enjoy the monthly get together.

Since it was April, an Easter Lunch was a great theme and not only the table setting but the menu was "Spring"!
The centerpiece is an antique silver plate flower holder -- a high class "flower frog" in the shape of a basket -- an estate sale find and so perfect for the Easter table. Daffodils from the garden say spring!

The silver foiled rabbits are faux but the chocolate they are holding are real. A favor for my luncheon guests!

Blue and white plates, of course, and my white bunny covered bowls which are perfect for the first course soup. A green tablecloth which plays well against the silver centerpiece and white napkins complete the table setting.

The bowls were a find at TJ Maxx and I can't remember if they were last year or the year before purchase but they are a perfect vessel for the first course Cream of Lettuce soup garnished with carrots.
I always have a menu whenever I entertain and this luncheon was no exception. Victorian looking note cards featuring bunnies were at each place setting. Inside was the menu. A menu that is truly spring for we started with Cream of Lettuce Soup, followed by Asparagus in Puff Pastry with Lemon Butter Sauce and for dessert a strawberry layer cake.

We talked and visited as we always do whenever we get together and The Lunch Bunch pronounced this month's entree "the best". But they usually do. They are a great group and we so enjoy our monthly luncheons.

Martha--The bunny was a gift from a friend--all it says on the bottom is "made in China" :) Good Luck!
