I love Tablescape Thursday that Susan at Between Naps on the Porch hosts each Thursday. It gives us a chance to share our tables at Linderhof as well as see what others do with their tables. I always drool as I scan the other magnificent tablescapes that are shared each Thursday. Everyone is so clever.
Friday night, we had twelve for a light supper before the caberet show. Saturday, we had a luncheon for seven. The star of the caberet show, Marilyn Maye, and several of her friends who came to the prairie with her.
It was not a planned luncheon but rather an impromptu invitation issued while visiting with Miss Maye and her friends during a late breakfast at the hotel where everyone stayed.
The woven charges from Nell Hills (which I love and use a lot especially for luncheons), the Spode blue and white plates. The gold napkins but this time in my silver napkin rings in the center of the plate.
Our nice red wine glasses and although some of the wines offered were white rather than red, we threw caution to the wind and used them for both red and white. We love the balloon shape and they do hold a nice pour!
The centerpiece was a bouquet of florists flowers which was a gift from a Friday night guest. Put into one of my blue and white bowls it was perfect -- for both parties!
The food was set out buffet style in the breakfast room and our guests filled their plates there. It was an easy way to have a luncheon. The menu -- ham on little rolls with an apricot curry mayonnaise, orange rice salad and broccoli tomato salad. Thankfully, I had made plenty the evening before.
Alas, there was no banana cake left from Friday but I did have some nice blueberries and blackberries in the fridge and made a quick crisp. Served with a big dollop of whipped cream flavored with Whidby Island Loganberry Liqueur. Wee cups of strong coffee and wee glasses of favorite liqueurs ended the meal.
As the spring snow fell it was a nice leisurely March luncheon.
Be sure to see the post before this -- A Weekend of Parties . . . . Party One, A Light Supper -- it was the start of a fun weekend!
