Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

What a Difference an End Table makes!

It's Monday and time for Met Monday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Everyone has such great transformations and Susan's this Monday is awesome -- but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to follow her directions -- we shall see!

I've always felt that a house is "living and breathing" and all things living and breathing change -- be it a new rug for the bathroom or a complete room makeover. Changes don't have to be big to be a change. Changes can be simple.

Which is why, although I don't really move furniture, I do rearrange tabletops. Some rearrangements are seasonal while others are "just because". It keeps Linderhof from being stale.

This is a "just because" in the sunroom. One of the leather chairs with an oriental stacked piece next to it and a floor lamp -- a few "things" on top. Nice, I think, but it's been that way for far too long.
So I moved the oriental piece and floor lamp out and moved this end table in -- complete with lamp and "things".
It's a bit cluttery but at Linderhof we like cluttery and yes, the lampshade is too small for the lamp but my only lampshade buying opportunities on the prairie is at Wal Mart and I prefer a nicer shade. Need to take lamp on my next trip to the city for lampshade!

It's a small change but I like it and actually it gives me more room for the table was already in the room on the other side of the chair. That space is now empty and gives us more room for our computer chair.

Thanks again to Susan -- she is a great hostess and if you haven't visited her blog, Between Naps on the Porch, be sure to do so -- it's always a great time at Susan's!

I seem to spend my whole life re-arranging, I guess there are worse addictions in life right?!

From the prairie in Colorado, to your prairie home, I enjoy reading about your part of the country. I know what you mean about going to the city to shop somewhere other than the local Wal-Mart. Thanks for sharing.

I like to make small changes - mainly because I can accomplish them myself, without the help of a (critical) husband!

Lovely. Btw, I've gotten some of my favorite lampshades at Target - they have very nice rectangular silk shades that would work beautifully on your lamp (available in several colors). You can see what I'm talking about her - it's the 4th or 5th photo... the crystal lamp in the foyer:

Yes, that shade would be perfect. I'll have to look at Target -- but again, that means a city trip! Sigh, our only shopping choice is Wal Mart!

Nice makeover, Martha! I like to change tabletops around, too. Rarely move furniture, these days, like I did when I was a tad younger!

Nice re-do, rearranging furniture and accessories is perfectly fine...I can't tell you how many holes I have in the wall from rearranging art too!

I like the blue and white lamp.

I have a lamp where the shade doesn't come down far enough either. I'm thinking of adding trim or beading to the bottom rim to extend it a bit.

You may call it cluttery; I call it lived-in and welcoming! I don't like clutter, but I do like a room that tells me about the personality of the owner!

I WILL ADMIT I KEEP MY ROOMS SOMEWHAT BORING AND SIMPLE, BUT I THINK YOUR ROOM IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND LOVE THE END TABLE AND I DONT SEE ANY CLUTTER, JUST LOVELY THINGS
