Alas, it doesn't hold sugar but rather tea or coffee spoons.
My collection of them -- sometimes divided equally between the two scoops -- other times one has more than the other.
The spoons are a long time collection. Some wee English coffee spoons, two from a Mexican trip and the ones with the rope handles are Russian -- pre Revolution. Definitely favorites of mine.
Whenever I serve coffee or tea, a scoop or two is placed on the table along with the cream and sugar. Guests can pick the spoon they want to stir their coffee or tea. When it's my turn to chose, I always select one of the Russian ones -- they truly are my favorite.
They get polished occasionally and on a rainy day, it's a relaxing chore to polish these spoons. And remember where I got them.
I'm always on the lookout for more spoons whenever we go to Estate Sales but I've not found any for a while. But I always have hope that the next sale will have a motherlode of the dear spoons.

The sugar scoops are very pretty - and I like the new use you've found for them. I use an old christening mug as a holder for coffee spoons.
The silver scoops are so pretty. I use an old crystal spoon jar that belonged to my Grandmother to hold silver spoons that were from Mom's wedding set. At the turn of the century spoon jars set next to sugar bowls on tables across America!
I LOVE the rope spoons! The sugar scoop is pretty great too.
So pretty!!
Hi Martha!
Thank you for visiting me!
What a lovely blog you have!
Greetings from Italy!
Martha, I can see why those rope handled spoons are your favorite. They are so unique and absolutely beautiful! I love using the scoops as holders for spoons. I'll be borrowing that idea! laurie
My grandmother always had a dish on her table that held spoons. This was right alongside the salt & pepper shakers, napkins and a vase of flowers.
Martha, you have the most interesting things in your home. Your home is one that I would truly love to visit to see all the lovelies. Character abounds in your home and gardens. I love that. It doesn't look like every home on the block. It has interest and seems to reflect who you and your husband are. That's wonderful.
I love to see silver on the table and to find people who love it as much as I do. I think it's sad that the interest is lessening due to maintenance issues. I don't mind polishing either. Having the spoons in the scoop is such a great idea.
