Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Roses in the Bedroom

Our Master Bedroom is a "sea" of roses. From the rose printed wallpaper that covers not only the walls of the room but the ceiling.
To tone on tone roses on the comforter . . .
To roses on the rug and bench at the foot of the bed.
Roses on the dressing table chair seat
And roses at the window!

Husband Jim is a patient man and lives in a room of roses. It's not his first adventure in a rose room. Our Master Bedroom in our first apartment also had pink rose papered walls! I think it is fate that he lives amongst the roses!

The roses, however, were not our choice, but were here when we bought Linderhof. So to make the rose wallpaper more at home, we added more roses!

If the room had not had the fireplace, we would have given the pink papered room to daughter Sarah. But that was not an option. I had always dreamed of having a fireplace in my bedroom and never thought that dream would come to reality. It did the day we moved into Linderhof.

So husband Jim and I live amongst the pink roses. After 22 years, it would seem quite strange not to have pink roses in our bedroom!

It's Pink Saturday so please join Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for other pink inspirations for this last Saturday in February.

Gracious! Your room certainly has a lot of doors, first thing I noticed. My old bungalow has a set of the double french doors with glass in them. It's amazing for as many rowdy boys I raised, only 1 or 2 panes have ever been broken. (Should I now knock on wood?) :)

What a BEAUTIFUL, rose-filled room. How wonderful it must feel to wake up each morning to your very own rose garden! And, what a sweetie you have to share it with. A lot of fellas would say NO to roses...seems your honey just embraced them and went right on!
Happy Pink Sat.

At least it's summer in your bedroom! Just draw the curtains, smell the roses and pretend.

It's so dreamy. I love the fireplace in there with the beautiful mirror above it. And the little sitting room off to the side. How could he complain?

Your bedroom looks like it would fit into the most romantic bed and breakfast inn! My husband didn't mind all my pretties, and I didn't ever mind all his tools in the garage! Saw we both have a Sarah, too. Blessings to you and thanks for sharing.

A beautiful old fashioned room! I love it and Jim will just have to "get over it"... surely he already has in 22 years! Tell him Pa sleeps in a canopy bed; he says it's okay since Andrew Jackson and a bunch of other historical folks did too!

I'm getting ready to paint my dining room. What color would look best with those gorgeous Blue Room dishes? I can't do blue because my blue kitchen is next door!

Martha, I just love opening up your pictures to enlarge them, and soak up all the details!
That bedroom is fabulous -- and with a fireplace! No wonder you bought that lovely house!

I am in love with the nooks in your bedroom -- it looks like there are one or two satellite rooms? Maybe former nurseries or dressing rooms? Wonderful . . . what a charming and gracious house.

and i LOVE the roses!!!
