Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Making Winter Bearable

Winter on the prairie was lots of snow and lots of cold . . . so what does one do in Feburary when winter is getting rather long and boring . . . ?
Take a cruise, of course!
With a stop to Progresso, Mexico which has a delightful beach.
Nice sand and warm waters . . .
And a chance to laze the day away sunning and frolicking in the Gulf!

It's Wednesday which means that it's Outdoor Wednesday at A Southern Daydreamer. Please visit Susan to see what others are doing outdoors this Wednesday!

Me, I've been in the garden the last few days -- which is still brown but there are signs of life -- bulbs popping up -- however, the leaves and sunflower seeds need to be swept up before the garden is the least bit picture ready!

I've never been on a cruise before...I'm quite sure that chocolate melting cake would be my downfall. Beautiful site you have here. This is my first visit. I'll be back! ~Lili

What a marvelous way to escape the prairie ice and snow. It looks fabulous, Martha.

Taking cruises has always been my favorite way to travel. Not anymore as they are having too many different problems. I will just stay on dry land.

Your blog warmed me today. Here, on the frozen prairie (somewhat north and east of you), we are seeing lots of brown earth and empty branches. Best of all, we are seeing less and less snow on the ground. Last night, I opened our bedroom window a little and it was nice. I'm thinking blossoms and salad and, soon (well, not too soon) locally grown tomatoes. Can't wait! Have a warm day.

Best,
Bonnie

That is exactly what my secretary has done - gone on a cruise! I have not been on a cruise since early last year and your pictures sure look tempting!
