Last Friday we had two dear friends and his brother and wife from California. Whenever friends have out of town family staying with them, we often have them to dinner -- it's a way to show off Fort Scott friendliness.
And whenever we have a dinner party, we always start with cocktails . . .
Husband Jim does the cocktails . . . and often we have martinis.
Which we enjoyed with appetizers on the screened in front porch. Then for dinner we moved to . . .
the dining room. With a gold tablecloth, white damask napkins in my silver napkin rings and, of course, the blue and white plates. The roses, a leftover from Wednesday's Ladie's Club dinner, were perfect for Friday's dinner party.
With our water glasses and the big balloon wines (everybody was a red wine drinker), it made for a festive table.
The napkins in the silver rings and the glasses -- all ready for wine and water (or water and wine).
The roses were so perfect that they almost didn't look real. They're lovely, a pale goldish peach color and a perfect foil for the gold tablecloth. The candles in the silver holders were lighted just before we adjourned to the dining room for dinner.
And Husband Jim's wine choices . . . .
Our feast was movable for we moved to the breakfast room for dessert, coffee and a wonderful muscat.

Martha, I love this table. I am so partial to blue, white and yellow (or gold in this case). Really beautiful! Your roses don't look real, they are that perfect! Don't you just love using your silver? It is truely a treasure!

What an elegant dinner party. Love the wine choices!
Beautiful! gorgeous dishes, gorgeous flowers -- all just perfect.
And I am SO glad to see that your martinis are REALLY MARTINIS... not that sweet junk that young people think are martinis nowadays -- "apple martinis," etc. ICK. A good dose of Tanqueray or Bombay -- now that's a cocktail! :-)
Gin, people! A martini is GIN!
Again, Martha, it's all lovely!

I always enjoy your table settings as you have the same dining set as my parents had, and my sister now has. And the blue and white is always easy on my eyes! Would love to visit your porch!
Thanks for a wonderful display.
You are without a doubt, the "Hostess with the Mostest!" This looks like a fabulous spread, and your guests were so lucky to be invited to your home.
