Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Flowers . . . . Just Because

Husband Jim is not one to shower me with flowers on birthdays, anniversaries or Valentine's. He wants to buy flowers because he wants to -- not because he has to. And I appreciate that.

Because when he does shower me with flowers it is from the heart -- not because a calendar or mass marketing said that he should.

And last week, he noticed that nothing was blooming in the garden which meant that there was nothing to fill the vases at Linderhof.

So what did he do?

He bought me flowers!!!! And not a small bouquet either. Nor just one. He literally showered me with flowers! That is just so special!
The pink carnations go perfectly in my newest blue and white vase -- perfect for the breakfast room table!
And the red carnations take the place of tulips in the artichoke tulipieres. In fact, the mums look quite good in them!
Which are perfect for the mantle in the living room.

Each tulipiere is three tiered and has holes all around. Each stem is placed in it's own hole as we build the arrangement up.

And the final bouquet -- roses -- yellow ones because he knows that I love yellow roses. So perfect in the cloisonne ginger jar on the coffee table!

I'm one lucky wife to have such a thoughtful husband. Flowers just because are truly special flowers!

It's Saturday which means that it's Pink Saturday so please join Beverly at How Sweet the Sound to see Saturday's Pinks!

Martha, how sweet. Who doesn't love "just because" flowers? I don't remember that last time I received some of those! ;)

All of your flowers, their containers, and placements are gorgeous. Love the yellow roses. Love the artichoke tulipiers so much, I had to Google them to see where I could get one. Oh so unique!

Have a nice weekend and enjoy the flowers from Jim. What a guy!

I agree, Martha, that flowers from the heart are very special. I think your Jim is a gem! Your new vase is unusually beautiful. I'm interested as to the style and/or period. The tulipiers are nestled in the perfect setting to show off their flowers. I think Linderhof is "well dressed" this weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend with the bouquets and Jim.

Best,
Bonnie

I'm with you.... I think it's awful for people to do only what they are told via mass marketing... what became of thinking for themselves? What became of the real meaning of love? The little things. The special things.... We don't buy each other things at the appointed times either.... we get each other little things or even big things..."just because". That way it's more special and it's always a surprise.... I like our way much better.

Great choices for the flowers...and they look lovely....

Now, that's a gift!
I love carnations - Especially if they smell particularly spicy!

Martha, your Jim is the sweetest husband to send flowers "just because". What a wonderful post!

There are times when one's husband just "gets it". He knows you and he discovers a need and he takes care of it! Perhaps a bit more than a need! Enjoyed this bit of the "in sync" your Jim offers you!
