Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Afternoon Tea for Two

Every afternoon at half past three I stop for a cup of tea and often a nosh. It gives me strength to last the rest of the afternoon. Sometimes, I ask a friend to join me.

And since the temperatures and humidity is soaring, the breakfast room is the place of choice to have a cup of tea.
Special company -- a special friend -- means that we get our real china cups and our silver teapot. The cups and saucers and plates are my Spode Famille Rose. A pattern in pink that goes well with the lace tablecloth and the pink sweet peas.
And not just a nosh but a cake --
A French chocolate cake with chocolate sour cream frosting. And the best thing to eat the cake with? Mrs. Boland's forks.

After cups and cups of tea and a nice piece of chocolate cake and much visiting, alas, the afternoon is winding down and my friend has to go her way.

It's Tuesday and time for a lot of parties -- join Marty at A Stroll Through Life for Tabletop Tuesday, It's Tea Cup Tuesday at Martha's Favorites, It's Tea Time Tuesday at Lady Katherine's Tea Parlor and It's Tea for Two at The Plumed Pen

Please add a little hot water to the pot and cut me a sliver of that cake (from the edge please) and I'll be right over!

Your China is just lovely and your tea table looks so inviting. But alas, I an dieting at the moment and that cake looks much too decedent for me, ( especially since i couldn't pass up the chocolate covered strawberries a few blogs back) so I wont be staying to long.
Thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Penny

Lovely tea you've set up. I like your lace a lot. My poor HusBear would stain or shred anything nice like that so often we go without a table cloth. And your cake... yumm. Take care.

What a lovely and delicious tea you have offered your friends! It looks so inviting.
I have been wanting a real silver tea pot. I am keeping an eye out for one. Yours is really a lovely shape. Do you think tea from it taste any different than a china a pot?
Your cake sounds so decadent and tasty. What a treat!
Hugs,
Terri
