Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

A New Me!!!!

The last week at Linderhof has been different -- for I've not been home -- I've been getting a part of me "fixed"! I had total knee replacement surgery last Wednesday (on what I thought was my good leg (which the doctor says on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 10 -- perhaps that is my bad leg)).

And that is not the first part of me that's been replaced! I've had cataract surgery as well -- so my eyes are not my own either!

When I get my second -- the good knee replaced, I guess I will qualify as a bionic woman!!!!

Entertaining and even gardening will be curtailed during my convalescence. Cooking and tablesettings will be curtailed as well (it's hard to carry a table setting of dishes while handling a walker!).

And what a great Met Monday post -- what better metamorphosis than me!!!! Going from no good knees to one and then finally two!!!!

I'm sure that most Met Monday posts are more exciting than mine but I can't wait until it is all done and I'm finally superwoman!!!!

Please join Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday.

Oh I so hope your recovery will be a speedy one. I will send up prayers. Maybe someone will cook for you and serve you nothing but your favorites. Now that would be a dream. Hugs, Marty

I'm with Mary having never had a bionic friend. I liked the old you but it sounds like the new you will be even better. = )

I'm sure that being ensconced in Linderhof will be conducive to swift healing!!

Best,

You are one of the bionic women.. and could join my mom and aunt as both of them had their knee replacement on both legs. and you will be in my prayers.

but no worries, once you are up and about, you shall be back to normal in short time.. walk, running and going up & down the stairs.. just like my mom & aunt.

Take care

What an adventure you've been on, Martha! I wish you a gentle and speedy recovery, and like another friend said, "I hope you have lots to read!"......after the cataract surgery you will be reading cookbooks as much as you like!

I hope you have a speedy recover, Martha. As we get older life becomes maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.

I hope you recover soon and that you have someone to help you in the house.
A friend of ours had his knees replaced and he said it was the best thing he ever did,all his pain has gone and he can get up and down stairs, which he could not do before.
I wish you well.

I'm Martha's daugher and she is doing amazingly! She is so diligent with her exercises and follows doctors, nurses, and PT's orders perfectly. Most important, mom has such incredible spirit - inspiring to us all!

Found you by way of Pondside...just want to welcome you to the world of knee replacement(s)... had my 2nd one done in February, which I guess makes me a veteran. Wishing you a good, smooth recovery...keep up with the exercises and always remember - "ice is your friend."
