Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

The Fall Garden

The garden in it's Fall Finery. At last, I was able to get out and weed which makes for more tidier beds. And with a few Farmer's Market pumpkins and some of Bryan's mums, the garden looks like fall!
The Knock-out roses are putting on another show with the cooler weather and they are just breathtaking. Adding a hint of red to the orange and yellows of the mums and pumpkins.
It's enjoyable to get out after breakfast and work in the garden -- starting to put it to bed for the season. A tidy garden in the fall means less work in the spring . . . . and soon, it will be time to plant that big bag of bulbs that are awaiting in the potting shed! This year I have lots of tulips which I'm going to plant in the bare spaces in the herb garden -- it should be quite a spring show!

It's Wednesday which means that it's time for Outdoor Wednesday with Susan at A Southern Daydreamer. Please join her and see what other amazing autumn outdoors there are this Wednesday!

The weather has been so different this year, the flowers do not know what to do. So they just keep on blooming. Mine are blooming more now than in the spring.

You've been tagged, Martha. Answer these 8 questions in a new post, and tag 7 bloggers with your own questions (I'm having trouble coming up with 7 bloggers I know!!).

My questions:
1. Who taught you to cook?
2. Do you prefer cooking or baking?
3. What is your favorite meal to cook for company?
4. Are there any foods you will not eat?
5. Who is your favorite TV chef?
6. What famous person/people would you love to dine with (dead or alive)?
7. Was your favorite meal ever eaten at a restaurant or someone's home? Tell us about it.
8. What dish are you still trying to master?

Love the tour of your beautiful garden. I love the knock-out roses. They are preforming generously for you. I am the only person on earth who cannot grow these roses. I have killed four so far and I think that is enough. I am jealous of yours. Can't wait for the show of tulips in the spring.
Thanks for your visit and kind words this morning. We will visit again soon. Hugs, Ginger

Martha -- you have Knockout roses? I am so curious about them -- are they indeed as trouble free and free blooming as claimed?

I need something to plant along the side of the driveway -- well about 12 feet away from the driveway, on a slope that ends in a stone wall -- and it gets loads of sun and is sort of out of the way -- I can't put something that will need coddling.

There's about 100 feet to cover -- would knockout roses work do you think?
Cass
PS LOVE your garden!!! So much color so late in the season -- good work.
