Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

A Bleutiful Breakfast

Our daily breakfast are usually fairly simple -- cereal or yogurt or fruit and toast. But I do like to set a pretty table -- even if it is just the two of us!

A pretty table, especially for "everyday" always includes my beloved blue and white . . . and to add to the "blues" -- big bowls of fresh blueberries -- with real cream to pour over!

Nothing matches as I take whatever piece is handiest -- a Johnson Brothers Indies bowl and cup and saucer (for me) and a Spode Blue Italian mug (for Husband Jim), a Blue Willow teapot, a Wedgwood creamer and Spode Blue Room bread and butter plate.

One of my Spode Blue Italian pitchers filled with garden flowers and fennel and to top our toast -- friend Tracy's "Little Spouse On The Prairie" Lemon Honey Jelly -- it is just the best and you can find it at our Tuesday evening Farmer's Market when Tracy has a booth. She makes the best cherry jelly as well and often has zucchini to sell.

It's Thursday and it's time for Tablescape Thursday with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch -- see what other pretty tables there are this Thursday!

Since clocks are really furniture I'm joining Miss Mustard Seed for Furniture Feature Friday.

I love the lace on your table. It almost looks like it is shaped like a snowflake. Very pretty. ~~

Martha,
Adorable blueberries in your blue and white dishes! The cool refreshing hues make it more bearable to rise in this sweltering heat!
Fondly,

I KNOW I should take the time to make the table more attractive when it is "just the two of us". You make it look so effortless.

(I even have some blues, myself. Hmmmm. I'll have to see what I can come up with.)

Beautiful breakfast table and I am loving that pitcher. You know, I have this new fascination with blue and white influenced by a friend. (Where's that smiley???) I just posted a new blue and white table setting.

I think it is wonderful that you set a beautiful table for you and your husband. I remember some 30 years ago when I first got married, I always set a beautiful table with the things I had gotten for wedding presents. As I time has gone by...I don't now. Maybe I need to do that again! Even if it is just the 2 of us.

Oh doesn't OUR china just make everything look wonderful!
You have round cereal bowls in the Indies Blue -- mine are square!
How funny. I think they made a lot of variations on this pattern. For instance, some of my tea cups have blue flowers inside the cup, others are plain inside.

Howard and I rarely eat breakfast at the same time, except on weekends when he is the cook!

LOVE your Indies teapot. I'm doing blue and white today, too -- not up yet, but soon! I've been so distracted today!

Dion says HEY to Ollie, and he didn't mean that crack about Ollie being part cat. Sometimes Dion drinks too much late at night ....
