America For Me
'Tis fine to see the Old World, and travel up and down
Among the famous palaces and cities of renown,
To admire the crumbly castles and the statues of the kinds, --
But now I think I've had enough of antiquated things.
So it's home again and home again, America for me!
My heart is turning home again, and there I long to be,
In the land of youth and freedom beyond the ocean bars
Where the air is full of sunlight and the flag is full of stars!
I know that England's wonderful, yet something seems to lack;
The Past is too much with her, and the people looking back.
But the glory of the Present is to make the Future free, --
We love our land for what she is and what she is to be.
Oh, it's home again, and home again, America for me!
I want a ship that's westward bound to plough the rolling sea,
To the blessed Land of Room Enough beyond the ocean bars,
Where the air is full of sunlight and the flag is full of stars.
Henry Van Dyke (1852 - 1933)
After spending two months in England, I thought this poem most appropriate for this Fourth of July!!! Although I do love England, I love America more and I am so glad to be home -- to be home to celebrate the birthday of our nation.

Great poetical selection! Have a joyful 4th!
Miss Kathy
Isn't it nice to love to come home? I feel the same way - love to travel, but am never happier than on arrival home.
Martha,
What a fitting poem, dear! Your tour of England was absolutely beautiful, but then Linderhof is a rare gem, indeed!Thank you for sharing both with us!
Fondly,
Pat
As Dorothy said
"There's no place like home".
We love to explore new places too but oh! how easy travelling would be if all it took to get back home was a click of the heels!
Wishing you a wonderful Independence Day Celebration!
Welcome home! Hope your July 4th is perfect...
Just wanted you to know that I just posted some more baby pics on my blog.

I am SO with you on this! I am an Anglophile extraordinaire but we are Americans and our lovely land is the fairest of them all. It is with pride that we celebrate our wonderful heritage in the land of the FREE.
As Frank Sinatra sang, so great to go travelling but oh! so great to come home. I know I love my country more than any.
I have to say though we don't live in the past.
