An Herbal Luncheon

Last week some Nevada friends came for lunch. A special lunch. They're gardeners like me and so I deemed the luncheon needed to be an Herbal Luncheon -- both in table theme and in food!

The table set for lunch -- an herbal centerpiece with added birds and floral china decorated, too, with a bird!

The china, my Wedgwood Cuckoo -- full of colorful flowers and a bird. It was a wine kind of luncheon and some vintage wineglasses are placed above the knife. And, I decided, to use vintage glasses for water as well. I've had both forvever but haven't used them in "forever"!

For each guest, a lavender basket -- fresh lavender woven into a basket and tied with a lavender ribbon. As always at Linderhof, a menu for each guest. The napkins, my Irish linen ones in silver napkin rings, of course!

I always love the table just before the guest arrive -- all expectant with everything in it's place and good smells wafting in from the kitchen.

It was a Herbal Luncheon so I felt that the food should be as herbal as the decorations.

And the menu?

Cups of chilled creamy potato soup with rosemary.

Slices of chicken corn basil quiche served with a salad of mixed baby greens with vinaigrette, a warm roll and butter with sea salt and chives.

For dessert, a lavendar lemon cake with a blueberry lavender sauce. Individual cakes for each guest.

A sad face didn't work with these ladies so Oliver thought he would show them by turning his back on the group. You won't feed me -- there I won't eat!!!!

It was a lovely afternoon and although it was rather warm, we did go out into the garden (but not for long) for gardeners whether in overhalls and crocs or skirts and heels will tromp around a garden!
