Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

A Charity Luncheon

The menu -- one at each place setting -- it is permissible for the guest to take them home.

Often for charity events in our little town, I'll donate a luncheon.   It's one way I can contribute to the cause and . . . I love having company!!!!      Today, I fulfilled one of my commitments when a winning bidder and three of her guests came to lunch.

The breakfast room overlooking the back garden.

A table for four set in the breakfast room.    My beloved blue and white, of course, set the table.

Earthy garden chives in a crystal bowl.
The summer has been hard on the garden flowers but the garlic chives are blooming and make a wonderful centerpiece.
The place setting.

A Spode Blue Room soup plate, Spode Blue Italian plate, a linen napkin in a silver ring, hotel silver, and a vintage wine glass.

Looking from the outside door into the sunroom.

I love a room that's all ready for company . . . .

The menu:

Creamy Carrot and Ginger Soup

Ham and Broccoli Quiche
Mixed Salad Greens with Linderhof vinaigrette
Freshly baked corn made lines

The Silver Palate Carrot Cake

It's Thursday and I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

Martha,
So elegantly set for your charity luncheon! I adore all of the views from the sunroom. That black piece at the back wall is stunning in your photography! Every item of your menu appeals to my senses!
Fondly,

Both the carrot soup and cake look and sound fantastic. I just love the juxtaposition of the rustic placemats/chargers with the delicate blues. So pretty for your luncheon. I am sure everyone was just delighted.

Oh YUM. those were 4 danged lucky ladies who came to lunch!

What a wonderful idea, too -- donating a luncheon for a good cause.
I've been working on our Library to sponsor a house tour, perhaps next year, as a fundraiser. But I also like the idea of the auction. You have so MANY good ideas!

Rats. Now I'm hungry.
