Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

I Want One Too!

I love reading blogs and my favorites are on my sidebar labeled "Friends of Linderhof".   I always get excited when I see a new post.   These "Friends of Linderhof" are creative cooks, dedicated decorators, green thumb gardeners or share my love of England!

A week and a half ago one of the "Friends of Linderhof" posted about Sables Bretons De Jeanne - Merci Amelie.

Adorable little cookies they were.    And Monique described how she found the cookies at a blog she visited and her search for the cookie cutter which she ordered from Amazon.ca (Canada) in French.

I "coveted" as well and was off on a mad search for the cutter.     I googled and googled but could not find one.   I was very creative with different "key words" but alas, the cutter didn't show up.

And then a friend suggested Amazon.ca (Canada) -- there it was and only one left!    I ordered!    And it came three days later!

A cute presentation -- wee cookbook and cookie cutter

A cookie cutter and a recipe booklet.

Which made these adorable cookies --

A great buttery cookie.

Petit Beurre Maison -- small butter cookies!    They are so cute!

Love the "Petit Beurre Maison" printed on them

And a plateful looks like afternoon tea.

Every afternoon at half past three we stop for a cup of tea and if friends come visiting, we offer to share with our guests.

For a friend and I.    And, of course, I had to "show and tell" so she could "ooh and aah" over my new treasure!

The recipe book, I must admit was in French but there were pictures as to how to put the recipe together (that was a plus!) and with the help of the computer, you could translate weights into cups and found out that the sachet was really baking powder.     Monique was so sweet and said that if I needed any translations, she would be happy to do so for she had the same book and all I had to do was tell her the page number!

It's a great butter cookie that goes so well with tea either hot or iced.

And since it comes in a pink box I'm joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday!

And I'm joining friend Bernideen at Bernideen's Tea Time Blog for Open House -- there is nothing  more appropriate for an Open House than cookies!

Now there's a first! Canada having something that a US affiliate didn't. Those really are sweet biscuits for tea and I can see why you wanted to show them off.
They almost look like one of the Peak Frean varieties.
Enjoy, and flaunt your new cookie cutter.
