Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Fall at Linderhof

It's October
October 1st
I adore October
It's always been a special month
I've started many jobs in October
I had my first date with Husband Jim in October
I love October weather
cool mornings and crisp nights but warm days.

And October is Fall
September 21 is the FIRST DAY of Fall
but to me, my calendar says that
October 1 is really the first day of Fall.

And so yesterday, September 30 -- the last day of September and the last day of Summer
(by my calendar)
touches of Fall were added to the outside of Linderhof.

The front bench with two real pumpkins and two concrete ones!

From the front

Mums around the statue add a bit of color to the garden

To the back

A pumpkin under the table sand mums on top.   It's my view from the breakfast table.

And under the pergola

The mums bring bloom t the garden

It's Fall outside

A bowlful of small pumpkins and bittersweet in the Asian bowl.

And inside.

Every year, I say that I'm going to get the house decorated for Fall
the first of September
but I never do
Probably because it is still hot on the prairie
And the weather is not at all Fall-like!

But October 1 DOES call for Fall
For pumpkins and bittersweet
And fall color mums!

October 1 means that Halloween is just around the corner
With Thanksgiving close on it's heels.

October
is a beautiful month
at
Linderhof!

I'm joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday.

Looks lovely. I too like the autumn colors and plants and pumpkins. And I always feel that the fall is the time to make new resolutions and start new projects. Jan. 1st just doesn't do it! At least for me. xoxo

October has always been my favourite month - our wedding month. I love the possibilities that October conjures up for me.

It all looks great, Martha. October is a good month for me too...it is my birthday month and a doorway to holidays among other things.

Looks like fall in your gardens. I think I agree with you about October. It's a month of change, but free from holiday stress, getting cooler, crunching leaves, etc. It did just get steamy here again, but we have also had a ton of rain. hoping for clearer breathing soon!
