Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

After Dinner . . . There's Coffee

As the days grow shorter
And the temperature drops
We end the evening in the living room
with after dinner coffee
And sometimes a sweet.

After dinner coffee is the rare time I use a mug.
And it comes as no surprise that the mugs are blue and white!

We don't have dessert every night -- the coffee is really our dessert
for we always have a good pour of cream and in the evening a spoonful of sugar.
It's my sweet way to end an evening.

But sometimes, there is dessert!

Pecan bars, not made by me but made by The Upper Crust in downtown Overland Park

Since there's a sweet, it's all piled on a tray

and the tray is placed on the living room coffee table (how appropriate!)
And since there is a sweet, the coffee is taken black.

Some of us, however, isn't an after dinner coffee fan.

Preferring instead to take a nap while coffee is sipped and dessert is eaten.

Begging done at dinner can wear a dog out!

Your china is so pretty. Blue and white coffee mugs are hard to find, I'm sure.

Hello Martha!
I can't let Howard see that Jim gets REAL desserts . . . and on a weeknight, too.

Dylan says that Dolly looks nice and cozy, like a lovely big snuggle blanket. Dylan loves snuggling more than anything in the world. Except cheese.

OOps laptop out of power!
Love, Cass

What a cosy way to end the day - and a sweet dog underfoot makes it perfect.

Coffee and dessert together with a sleepy fur baby by your feet sounds cozy.

How cozy! I love your basket tray. I've seen it taken out to the garden in a few other posts and it always looks so inviting.
