Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Estate Sale Treasure

We like going to Estate Sales
For we often bring home treasure.
We also find that Estate Sales in certain neighborhoods
have a lot of mementos from trips to Europe.

And last fall, on the second day, we found these . . .

Signed engravings of Venice

Complete with canals and gondolas.
Dating, we think from the late 50s or early 60s
Bought because we're going to Venice in the Spring
So much nicer (and cheaper) than anything we could find in Venice to bring home!

They're small -- 5 x 7
And framed they fit in almost anywhere.

I like small frames and have in the past found them at
Hobby Lobby
for next to nothing.

Thursday, with pictures in hand, I was in the frame department
looking for small gold frames for these pictures.

Alas, there were none.

But I did come home with these . . .

So much bigger than I had imagined.
But they seem to work and well

In the guest room,

I had a couple of "English" pictures which looked good

But not as good as these two
Hung low, I think, because it works!

Sofas are for corgis, too!!!

And I'm hosting a giveaway.
Not to celebrate anything
But because I found a "treasure" I wanted to share

A favorite cookbook author, one of my culinary heroes

Anna Pump

It's her second book complete with dust jacket.

Just leave a comment and I'll put your name in the drawing.
If you're a follower, I'll add your name twice.

It's The Loaves and Fishes Party Cookbook

(I'm not giving up my treasured copy, oh, no, it's one I found that I wanted to share!)

And each day that you make a comment, I'll add your name to the drawing

It's Monday and I'm joining Susan At Between Naps On the Porch for Met Monday.

I've done the same thing, Martha - especially after a trip. It's funny how I can spot an old engraving of a place I've been - from across a room or the lawn at a yard sale. I like the way you've framed them. They're worthy of that.

What a great inspiration to bring home and look at while you await your trip. I like the heaviness of the frames with the delicacy of those prints. Peggy from PA
