Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Our Furniture Comes With Wheels!

Not really!
But this week they should have!

I'm not really a furniture mover
Once something is in place (on the floor)
It usually doesn't get moved
Except, perhaps, at Christmas, when we have to make room for the tree.

But last week . . .
I decided to make a change

In the corner of the living room was the secretary
Put there because I could sit and write notes and checks and look out at the garden

But I moved the wing chair back further into the corner
Which meant that getting to and from was a bit of a wiggle.

So I moved the Asian chest there
We rarely get into it
And I never really liked it where I had it
Something just didn't work

With the clivia on top as well as a big ginger jar
And the same painting over
I think it's an improvement
Both in looks and functionality.

The Asian cabinet was next to the door
With the picture over it

I think it was more what was on top
or what always ended on top
(everything almost that was carried into the house)

The secretary by the door.
I can easily get into it
without shimmying by and around a chair.

Before:
The fireplace wall of the room with the secretary in the right corner

After:
The fireplace wall with the Asian cabinet in the right corner

And just because I thought it a neat picture
The living room on the left
The dining room on the right

And although I'm not a furniture mover, I am a tabletop mover
I'm always tweaking those it seems!

It's Monday and I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday

We don't move furniture much either. But when something needs to have a different purpose, it is a must. Looks like you make some improvements.

I never move my furniture around; our youngest daughter finds this boring and is constantly moving hers. It must be my personality type. LOL
I think the small changes you've done make sense when more room becomes available.

The only time I really move furniture is when we move. I like what you've done - it makes sense!

It looks great! Sometimes moving things is a very inexpensive make-over. Because I have a hernia I'm actually putting some furniture in wheels so it won't be too painful to move! Thanks for visiting the Little White House.
