Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Tea In the Garden . . .

Friday I was busy in the kitchen
Doing food prep for my Saturday class

And with my sugar cookie dough and some lavender
I baked

Some lavender sugar cookies.
Two for each guest
To be packaged in a cello bag and tied with a lavender ribbon

But I had some leftover dough

And so I made for me some lavender sugar cookies
Only mine say "lavande"
(Lavender in French)

One of my favorite garden ornaments

Is my "thymely" rabbit
A wire form
filled with moss and a thyme plant.

He is a great show and tell
when I do a cooking with herb class

And he also makes a great centerpiece
for tea in the garden

For every afternoon at half past three
I stop for a cup of tea

And it was a beautiful day
And the garden beckoned.

I, however, had company

Who shamelessly thought she should also have some tea treats!

And after tea . . .

Back in the kitchen to finish up the
Lavender Ganache Cupcakes.

It is my own garden lavender
But I adore the little "French Lavender" container
that I bought at Williams-Sonoma
And it is perfect for my home grown lavender.

It is Tuesday and I'm joining these parties this afternoon!

Martha, your garden tea is lovely. I, too, like to use lavender in recipes, but I don't have the option of using it fresh from my garden. How wonderful that sounds!

Your lavende cookies are charming and I love the stamping. I too love lavender --- and enjoy cooking with it very much.

Hi Martha,
Your thyme rabbit is such a show stopper! I would love to see it when it's filled with thyme. Your cookies and cupcakes look good and I love your blue tea things. I bet those cookies smell divine! Thanks for joining me for tea and enjoy your week.

Blessings,
Sandi

I can't think of anything that isn't improved by the scent of lavender. Your afternoon tea must have been a treat in the garden!
