Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

A Frosty Morning

It's 5 below here on the prairie
That is cold!

But one thing we don't have at Linderhof

is frosty windows!

Even though kitchen windows and sunroom windows are one pane with no storms
They don't seem to frost up as did the windows when I was a child.

I do remember one winter when we had lots of cold and lots of snow
And the windows in our snug little house were frosted from January to Spring!

I love the delicate etchings of the frost on the window
The romantic notion of it all

But it's really better if the windows don't frost

We hunkered down in front of the fire yesterday
and took down the tree.
Today, we shall bake King's Cake
and invite brave friends for tea!
