I adore tea cookies
shortbreads, sugars, gingers
But every once in a while
Husband Jim
yearns for what we term
"Cookie Jar Cookies"
Those bigger, heartier cookies
that go more with milk than tea.
An afternoon
"come home from school"
"come out of the cold"
kind of cookie.
And so Sunday I made
Oatmeal raisin cookies
With fruit and oatmeal
I think of them as
healthy
cookies!
As good as they are with a glass of milk in the afternoon,
they also go well with tea.
In the breakfast room
By myself
Where I often read one of the decorating or cookery books
that are always handy in the breakfast room.
These two are Laura Ashley
A House in the Cotswolds and A House in London
I love looking at the pictures in these books
These interiors are not the flowery fussy rooms that we often think of
when we think of Laura Ashley.
But rather sparser and filled with antiques.
My morning
(and usually everyday) teapot is perfect to brew
P G Tips tea.
And the Spode blue and white which are always handy in the kitchen.
A hyacinth scents the air
An orchid's blooms make one think that perhaps
winter is almost gone.
I do linger at tea on Sunday afternoon
For there is not so many chores
Or, rather, chores are neglected on Sundays.
It's Tuesday and I'm joining Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage for Tea Time Tuesday and Bernideen for Friends Sharing Tea

Hi Martha,
Your blue Spode is so pretty and I just love oatmeal raisin cookies! Happy Tea Day and wishing you a wonderful Valentine's Day!
What a beautiful piece of lace on the table. This setting is lovely. Your cookies are also delicious looking and one of my favorites!
What beautiful lace on your table, Martha. I always enjoy seeing your Spode and those cookies look delicious. I love big fat oatmeal cookies too although I am watching my waistline these days. My hubby is enjoying a cup of PG Tips right now. Thank you for coming to tea and Happy Valentine's Day!
Blessings,
Sandi
That is a beautiful piece of lace. And yummy cookies too!
I always enjoy seeing your blue china for tea! My hubby prefers the large hearty cookies, too! They sure are good!

My husband is a big cookie and glass of milk guy too. I like the daintier types with my cup of tea but really, anything goes.
Your tea table is just wonderful for the afternon. The oatmeal and raisin cookies are very "healthy". LOL! Hope you and your husband celebrate a wonderful Valentine's Day. Have a great 14th!

Sunday is the perfect day to relax with tea, a cookie or two, and some decorating magazines. I imagine that it must have been most satisfying!
Your lace tablecloth is lovely, and I always enjoy your blue and whites! The cookies look great - I like most any kind of homemade cookie, with tea or with milk. Have a great week, Martha, and a Happy Valentine's Day!
A perfect tea! Thanks so much for sharing this with us today. Hugs, Martha
You can't beat a cup of PG Tips, especially in lovely china.

YUM! Oatmeal raisin is one of my favorites of all a time! Laura Ashley was the best thing that came out of the 80's. :-)
Oatmeal cookies with tea is just the perfect afternoon pause. Love it.
