Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

The Valentine Luncheon Table

Every year
I host a Valentine's Day Luncheon for friends
(or on the Friday before if Valentine's falls on Saturday or Sunday)

It's
tradition!!!

It's fun to think of how I will decorate the table,
find a little gift for everyone to take home
And plan a menu!

This year

(I've set the table early --
it is a lifesaver when you entertain
to set the table early!)

It's traditional for Valentine's at Linderhof!

A classic table
Lace tablecloth

A wee creamy white rosebush
in a individual ice bucket
(which I really favor for flower containers)
And two silver compotes
on either side
filled with red foiled wrapped chocolates

My Aynsley Pembroke plates,
Jim's grandmother's cutlery
A damask napkin in a silver ring
And Mrs. Boland's forks
And my Aunt's spoons for dessert
Set European style
at the head of the plate.

And a favor of a small Valentine box

Which holds three of my handmade chocolate dipped chocolate truffles

An elegant table for an elegant luncheon
for dear friends.

And I'm sharing my Valentine Luncheon table for my friends with Susan at Between Naps On the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

Martha, how pretty! This is so funny because I had just set the table for Valentine's dinner for our kids-- and used lace tablecloth too! How lovely to have your own candies as favors.
