The pansies were at Mayco today!
A sure sign of Spring
We always plant them in the fall as well
And some years, we still have them in spring
Alas, not this year ==
Way too cold!
As is my custom, I bought two flats.
I pay retail for them
because I love them so!
I try to get discounts on the summer annuals
But on the pansies, never!
And I prefer a mix of colors
A riot of color!
We put them in the two planters by the front steps,
the planters by the back door
And the window box under the kitchen window in the back garden . . .
And some in the iron planter on the front porch
They bring a smile to our face.
And although pansies say spring,
we've yet to bring out the cushions for the wicker porch furniture
or clean (soap and water clean) the porch.
This time of year the December greens are a bit tired
(which is an understatement -- they are very tired)
And these harbingers of spring just brighten up the garden of Linderhof!
Even if we get a bit of cold or even snow,
the pansies will be fine.
And when they get to blooming well, I'll pick a bouquet
for inside
for one of my Christmas gifts was a pansy dish
And I can't wait to use it!
It's Wednesday and I'm joining Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday

A pansy dish?!? I have no idea what this is. I can't wait to see it!
Bring on the pansies! I need to get some for a little color outside too.
I don't think I know what a pansy dish either. I will be glad to see. My flowers this year will be different as a huge tree was taken out last fall. I am going to have full sun on the west and will have to have a new plan.
Pansies have such nice faces with smiles introducing Spring to us. Lovely planter with pansies as the star.

Riot of colors indeed! beautiful arrangement.
Martha,
Oh, dear friend, how you've inspired me to get in the mood for a Spring Porch!!! "Mr. Ed" did a 'soap & water' cleaning of the front porch this morning!!! I removed the faux Christmas Trees and put out the plant stand and pots. BUT now I have empty pots on my porch. . .and alas, no Mayco Ace here on my side of the Prairie! I do think I spied some Spring plantings at our local Wal~Mart, though!!!
Thank you for the inspiration, dear one!!!
Fondly,
Pat
