Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Mardi Gras

It's Tuesday --
Shrove Tuesday
Fat Tuesday
Mardi Gras

In between pancakes
For breakfast
(here)
and dinner
(at church -- our annual fundraiser)

We decided to have a bit of Mardi Gras
for tea

Cookies
and tea
(for who knows, cookies may be given up for Lent
(however, afternoon tea would never be given up for Lent))

Cutout cookies
In shapes of fleur di lys, crowns and mask
Frosted and sprinkled
In shades of gold, green and purple
the colors of Mardi Gras

Husband Jim and I had tea this afternoon
in the breakfast room
And a celebratory tea, it was
for we used the silver pot
And the delicate white cups trimmed in gold

Tomorrow, it may be tea only
(sigh)

I'm joining Bernideen for Friends Sharing Tea.    And I do wish that every one of you could have stopped by today and had tea and Mardi Gras cookies.

Yes, I'm still considering whether or not to give up sugar for Lent. It's hard to believe how hard the decision is -- just shows how much I like it!!
