Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Another Change in the Breakfast Room

I moved the sideboard in the breakfast room
for it seemed a shame to cover up those lovely windows
And then I decided that I needed a different table
for the "smaller" space
So I brought in a wicker table from the front porch
Covered it with burlap and lace

And it was a nice table
But it seemed "short"
It was also a tad wobbly
But that may have been because of the brick floor
Plus you couldn't "wipe" it down
And Jim is a messy eater!

I've been looking for a table
And this week, I went shopping again
To the basement!

For my square table
A card table
Bought 20 years ago
from Bombay Company
On a deep sale
For like $100
Plus it was Valentine's Day and they were having give a gift
from Godiva Chocolates
For each $25 spent, you got a little box
I said, hey, I spent $100, do I get four?
And I did!

It's a little miracle table

Here it is in it's untablecloth form
(and looking at these pictures, I need to turn it around
so the legs don't look funny!)

You just pull out the back part and unfold the top

It folds up into a great little end table
(this is in the living room)

But it also has two leaves and will seat 8.

A very versatile table!

The breakfast room has changed more than any other room
in the house in it's seven short years

And I'm not usually that much of a changer
But it still remains one of my favorite rooms of the house
Even though it is one of the smallest!

The breakfast room with lace covered table,
A sideboard full of blue transfer ware
Two old chairs with needlepoint seats
And the best view of the garden!

Update:   I noticed in the pictures that the legs of the table looked funny -- they weren't even -- they still aren't even but I DID turn the table around so they look normal!

It's Monday and I'm joining Susan at Between Naps On the Porch for Met Monday and also Judith at Lavender Cottage for Mosaic Monday -- MY FIRST!

I love this room- the brick floors give it so much personality! That's a fantastic sideboard-looks good there. I like the lacy tablecloth on the table- perfect touch for the room!

I have noticed a few changes in this room, but what I like best is the sideboard full of blue and white china.
You're lucky to have spare tables around to change things up.
Thank you for linking to my first Monday hosting Mosaic Monday.

Love your "new" table. It looks very versatile. And I love the fact that you managed to snag not one, but FOUR little boxes of chocolates! (Maybe that's why Bombay Co. went out of business!?) Just kidding -- new arrangement looks great. xoxox
