Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Swoe There!

There are Hoes
And then there are Hoes

I had a standard garden hoe
And have it for a while
Mostly it just hangs from it's peg in the potting shed

But then I read about a new "hoe"
Called a swoe
Originally from England, of course!

And I ordered one on Friday and it came on Saturday
I love bright and shiny new tools!

I used it Monday
and find that it is a wonderful addition to my garden tools
While the original Hoe continues to hang in the potting shed

It's a different kind of hoe
A three sided hoe
And little and light
And glides around the plants effortlessly

It's was introduced by Wilkinson Sword a few years ago
And I would assume that that's where the name "Swoe" came from
(Sword + hoe = Swoe)

As far as garden tools go, I believe in getting the best
It's sort of like the carpenter's motto
"measure twice, cut once"
My theory is
"buy once"

A good tool will last a lifetime
Cheap tools may last a year or two at the most.

I enjoy my little "swoe"
It's easy to use and really does cut through the weeds!
Which have been growing wildly this summer
Too much rain and too cool weather.

I can see the advantages right off. I have not seen this but would definitely look for one!
