Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Happy Independence Day!

It's that time of year again
We're nearing the 4th of July
Nothing quite as pretty
As sparks against the sky

And that is what it means
Freedom it represents for us
A day to set aside
And to make a lot of fuss

We honor our independence
It's what we have always fought for
And even though it's never easy
To keep the enemies from our door

So picnics and bar-b-q's are planned
To celebrate this special day
But stop a moment and remember
The meaning of the brilliant displays!

We, at Linderhof, wish you and yours a very
Happy Independence Day
as we celebrate this, the birthday of our great country!

Beautiful picture, Martha. Watching "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS and loving the Gershwin "Rhapsody in Blue" with backdrop of the monuments and river at "the blue hour." Thinking what a great idea this America was and what a great reality it has turned out to be.

Thank you for all your wonderful blogs .... and being so representative of what is so good about America. God bless. Your July Fourth blog was a delight. I don't have a blog, live on Long Island, New York. I'm Anne, but it's easier for me to post as Anonymous.
