Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

An Afternoon Reception

I was in charge of a reception this afternoon
for a group that I belong to

I volunteered
And spent part of the week
making treats for the reception

Chocolate cupcakes
Chocolate icing
Decorated with sugared cranberries and sugared rosemary

A cranberry orange punch called Jingle Bell Punch
A container of Ocean Spray cranberry juice, a large can of frozen orange juice and a bottle of ginger ale
Frozen cranberries and orange slices for decoration

And every reception needs:

Nuts
(candied pecans that I candied myself
I love to keep a sack in the freezer they're a great addition to salads)

Mints
(cream cheese mints that I made with a leave mold, colored green with green sugar and a red "holly berry" for it is after all the Christmas season)

Typical afternoon reception fare
Just all homemade
