Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

A Special Day

We're in Minnesota
For a Very Special Day

For we headed out early today, this Sunday, to
Mount Calvary Lutheran Church

For Grand Girl Piper

Was to be baptized
In a dress of mine
In a bonnet of mine
Wearing a childhood cross of mine as a necklace

During the 9 a.m. service
Pastor Dave
baptized our dear Grand Girl

The first of the holy sacraments
That of Baptism

In the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost

And after, Miss Piper Elizabeth Punch
was introduced to the congregation.

After the Baptism,
we participated in the other Lutheran sacrament
That of Holy Communion

The sermon and music that morning were outstanding.

We celebrated after

Grand girl Lucy and Poppy enjoying the pre meal popover -- a regular occurrence here in Minnesota -- popovers being the bread basket bread at restaurants!

With brunch at Hazelwoods.
A favorite restaurant in their little town.

The negative fifteen degree cold did not deter us
(nor a large part of the congregation)
for this very special day.

Piper seems quite pleased to be wearing your dress. They are both darling. I'm glad you're able to get to them in a "day" trip.

What a wonderful family celebration -- and I just adore your granddaughter's precious little outfit! Piper is truly a beautiful baby! Interesting to hear that popovers are often served there. I happened to have a popover at a restaurant in Pine Mountain on Friday night, but prior to that, I last had one probably two or three years ago when I made them. I almost never see popovers around here!

A baptism is a lovely reason for a family celebration - the first of the sacraments and their celebrations. Your grand-girls as adorable!

What a wonderful celebration, Martha! Your little granddaughter looks adorable in her grandmother's dress and bonnet. Such cute little feet in those tights too. These occasions are so precious and I'm so glad you were able to attend and make more lovely memories. The only popovers I ever get are the ones I make myself. Thanks for sharing with us.

Blessings,
Sandi
