Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

The Queen of Sweets Plans A Dinner Party

Every Sunday we meet two couples for lunch after church
Our church starts earlier than theirs
(in fact, we get out before theirs even begins!)

To keep busy between church and lunch
I clean the refrigerator
and bake cookies for the week

A bag for each of the ladies accompanies us to lunch.
The rest are put in the larder for tea time that week.

For Christmas, one of my friends
gave me my favorite Friend Present
(different than family presents)

A scepter!
Which states that I am the
Queen of  the Sweets

I shall bring my scepter every Sunday
so that my loyal subjects know
who is Queen!

Tomorrow we're hosting our first dinner party of 2016
It requires planning
(but obviously, not too much advance planning!)

And tea time is the perfect planning time!

With a pot of tea, a plate of the white chocolate walnut cookies I baked yesterday
And the first cookbook, I start planning!

The Spode Blue Italian is a favorite for everyday tea.

After browsing a few cookbooks, I think I have my menu set
I shall make my grocery list, shop tomorrow morning,

The table will be set tonight
It seems more festive when the table is set for company!

Tomorrow morning after breakfast and grocery shopping, I shall tidy up downstairs
And then go to the kitchen and begin cooking.

It shall be good to have friends around Linderhof's table again!

A scepter for a true Queen - your friends have a good sense of humour and must know you well. I would say that you must be the Queen of Luncheons too!
We will have our first dinner party of 2016 on the 30th. Lots of time to plan and clean!
