Linderhof

Gardening, Cooking and Decorating on the Prairie of Kansas

Welcome to Linderhof, our 1920's home on the prairie, where there's usually something in the oven, flowers in the garden for tabletops and herbs in the garden for cooking. Where, when company comes, the teapot is always on and there are cookies and cakes to share in the larder.

Roast Chicken and A Rainy Day

It was a rainy day on the prairie.
I had a whole chicken in the fridge
What better way to spend a rainy afternoon
than inside chores with the aroma of roasting fowl wafting through the house!

The chicken
Home canned cranberry and pecan chutney
(I always make a few jars after Thanksgiving -- so nice to have for winter's roast chicken)
Roasted Potatoes
Glazed Carrots
(with a hint of cloves and a shower of parsley)

And roast chicken seems to be a celebratory meal

So we dined in the dining room
(Seemed cozier on a rain drenched night)

Dear Martha:
That looks very delicious. Sometimes rainy days can be very relaxing and laid back! I'm all for that. We have new carpet and Quartz counters and much work done - painting and staining woodwork and misc repairs. We are getting closer to moving day!!!

Also sink and faucet of course!

What a cosy dinner in your pretty dining room. Somehow a roast chicken always makes an ordinary evening seem a little bit special.

How lovely! I can just hear the rain falling outside with the two of you tucked into Linderhof eating by candlelight.

By the way, the chairs turned out beautiful.
